Layer Blending Modes is a new video tutorial series from The Light's Right. Each of the layer blends is explored in its own short video (i.e. under 10 minutes).
Mitch describes the idea behind each of the blends and talks about their practical application. He also describes the math, for those who really want to understand how the Photoshop layer blends work.
In this first episode, the focus is on Photoshop's default layer blending mode: the Normal blend. Not really so much of a layer blending mode per se, there are still some important points to cover, such as how layer opacity works.

Excellent subject for tutorials.
Another example of why this website is so useful. I've been curious about the math behind blend modes and I've seen some discussion of this elsewhere but I somehow missed the significance of the opacity setting. Great tutorial - looking forward to the rest of the series.

I'll try to get through several modes this week: Darken, Lighten, Multiply, and Screen.
