TLR Diffuse Glows Panel
DockedPanel.png

A new Photoshop CS4 panel is ready! This one provides an easy-to-use interface for the TLR Diffuse Glows action set.

If you've never tried it, the TLR Diffuse Glows action set provides a collection of 25 Photoshop actions for adding diffuse glows and dreamy, soft focus effects to your photographic images.

This new .SWF panel for Photoshop CS4 makes it much easier to select the effect you want. Just choose from Diffuse Glow, High Key Glow, Low Key Glow, Dreamy Focus, and Soft Focus. Then pull a slider to select the desired intensity. Press the Apply button. That's all there is to it!

Here's a Before/After example:

The settings are sticky. Set them and they'll remain your default until you change them to something else.

I recommend that you dock the panel in Photoshop CS4. That way, it will load automatically when Photoshop starts ands you'll have tone-based selections at the ready!

Installing the panels is easy. Here are the steps:

  1. Download the .ZIP file. It contains the panels and, as a convenience, a copy of the TLRDiffuseGlows action set.
  2. If the TLRDiffuseGlows action set is not yet loaded into Photoshop, then load it.
  3. Unzip the panel and its associated Javascript file. You'll need both files. The .SWF panel uses the Javascript file to call the appropriate Photoshop actions.
  4. The .SWF panel and associated Javascript file go in the Panels subfolder under your Photoshop installation.

If you followed the Photoshop CS4 defaults during installation, you'll find the Panels subfolder in either of these locations:

  • PC: Program Files\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-Ins\
  • Mac: Applications\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-Ins\

Once you've copied the files, restart Photoshop CS4. Then go to Window | Extensions and click on the Glows submenu item.

Wow... you read my mind

Hi Glenn,
I think it's finally time that I get on here. I have been using your actions for a long while. You do some really great work ... thank-you so much for that. I was actually going to send you a suggestion of making a Diffuse Glow/ Digital Velvia Panel but with 25 diffusions this is probably better. I use so many of your actions and now panels... looking forward to using this one and any more to come... again thank-you.
Joel

Don't you ever sleep. Mitch?

I can't wait for the back to school workload to settle down so I can really dig in to diverse glows. Will the B&W suite be next? Thank you ever so much!

Minor Update to Glows Panel

I made a minor update today. I added labels for 1 and for 5 to opposite ends of the intensity slider.
