TLR Digital Velvia
TLRDV2.jpg

This is a color enhancement action set from The Light's Right Studio: a Photoshop action set that make it easy to obtain the rich, saturated colors that people associate with color slide film. TLR Digital Velvia is a Photoshop action set that is compatible with earlier versions of Photoshop.

Rather than use the Photoshop Hue/Saturation command, which can cause undesirable artifacts, the TLR Digital Velvia action set makes a duplicate of the image, flattens the duplicate, and converts it to L*a*b mode for the color boost. The layer is then copied back to the original image. Your original image remains in RGB.

When you run this action, make certain that no additional images are open.

The resulting layer is given a default opacity of 75% to make it easy to adjust the effect.

Adjust Overall Saturation

You can increase saturation gradually or go really wild!. There are five levels for increasing overall saturation.

There are occasions when it is helpful to reduce saturation. TLR Digital Velvia has five different levels of reduced saturation.

Adjust Red/Green or Blue/Yellow Saturation

You can also limit your saturation adjustment to either of the the L*a*b color channels: the magenta/green axis affects predominantly reds and greens; the blue/yellow axis affects predominantly blues and yellows. On those occasions when it is helpful to reduce saturation, TLR Digital Velvia can help you with that, also. There are five levels of increasing and decreasing saturation for each L*a*b channel.

Manual Adjustment

If you prefer to "roll your own" saturation settings rather than selecting a preset amount, TLR Digital Velvia includes an action for manual adjustment that takes care of all of the other mechanics.

How do I download these adjustments using Vista?

When I select the URL I am unable to select save. Thanks, Walt Smith

Re. How do I download these adjustments using Vista?

There is a URL at the bottom of the description for each tool. If you click on it, a dialog should open that offers you the option of saving the .ZIP file.

I use Vista Ultimate, and I get the dialog for the TLR Digital Velvia action set.

The only other thought that comes to mind is your UAC settings for Vista. Perhaps they're getting in the way.

If you still have a problem, send me your e-mail via the contact page, and I'll send the file as an attachment.

Cheers,

Mitch
