Where in the World is Mitch?!

I know. I know. I've been rather quiet lately. I can now explain.

Work got crazy for me in October. I mentioned this a few weeks ago. So crazy, I've been taking medication for anxiety and depression. I've pretty well adjusted to the medication. I am likely to be extremely distracted for a few more weeks, however.

The New Year will be a better year for me and my family. In October, I investigated the possibility of moving our work from the University of South Florida in Tampa to Florida State University in Tallahassee. It took about three weeks for our partners in state government and for Florida State University to agree.

I could not speak openly about this until a new three year contract with the State of Florida was prepared. We received the paperwork today.

This move means no more 600 mile round-trip commute. (I've been doing it for 10+ years now.) Instead, my office is only a few miles away from home. It means a new environment with more support. The entire team will be coming with the center.

I look forward to working once again at FSU. I worked there as an Assistant Professor right out of graduate school almost 20 years ago.

The move means a lot of work. We have contract deliverables to finish, and I need to pack booka, etc. from my office in Tampa and ship them to Tallahassee.

In the end, I will have more time to devote to this site and the resources on it. The New Year will indeed be better for The Light's Right, too.

Take care of yourself good luck with the move

Glad to read that things are looking up for you. Hope that your move goes smoothly.

Take care of your health. Then get out and take more pictures.

I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into this site. I can not figure out where you find the time.

Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year.

Les

best wishes

Hey Mitch, Les is right. Work at a pace that works for you. Take care of yourself. We'll keep checking back and when you're ready to post, we'll find more great stuff. Meanwhile be assured that your members and visitors are grateful for all you have done.

Hear, hear!

Les and Mark have said it all. There is nothing left for me to add other than my personal thanks for all you have done.

You've given a lot to so

You've given a lot to so many of us, now take some time just for yourself.  Get out into the fresh air.  Sunshine (vitamin D) and taking pictures will help reenergize you.

Have a great holiday!

Mitch, your health and your

Mitch, your health and your family come first.  Your help and contributions here and many other places has been incredible.  Get yourself settled and healthy again and don't worry about posting anything.

We will all be here when you are ready.

Best of luck

Good to Hear

But now with no commute, you won't be coming by Gainesville for that cup of coffee we never had.

Re. Good to Hear

I'll be making a trip to retrieve my books, etc. from my office during the first full week in Jan. I also have a conference to attend there on Jan. 7. So, we could perhaps arrange to meet then.

Otherwise, my travels take me intermittently to Gainesville. To visit colleagues at UF. Also, I like Kanapaha Gardens. And, I've like to visit the Butterfly Gardens.

Best,

Mitch

Re. Enjoy 2010

Thanks. I look forward to catching up contract deliverables at USF and getting all settled into FSU, so I can get back to work on more tools, tutorials, and videos for The Light's Right.

My new work environment is much quieter and supportive. Less competitive and contentious. I continue to work with someone I respect greatly.

This week should be my last commute between Tallahassee and Tampa.
