Bob Johnson has written a commentary on Earthbound Light that really resonates with me. I've taken lots of sunset shots. You can see an example in a column I wrote for The Luminous Landscape.

The point of Bob's argument is that the creative opportunities don't always stop right at sunset.

Couldn't agree more

Couldn't agree more. I personally don't like the sunset photos with the flaming sun as much as the shots AFTER the sun has set. The clouds are more colourful after sunset. When the sun is above the horizon it can cause flare, plus the resultant higher shutter speed causes detail to be lost. Shoot after the sun has set - with a tripod.
