DxO Labs makes a popular program for correcting images and processing RAW files called DxO Optics Pro. The exciting news is that they have created a new Web site for systematically comparing the sensor performance for a variety of cameras, measured with their proprietary DxO Analyzer.
This is a free service. DxOMark has more than 45 comparative reviews of current and recent DSLRs and bridge cameras (digital cameras with a RAW format). You can choose which cameras to compare. There are both numeric and graphic comparisons.
Comparisons include the following:
- actual ISO sensitivity (which generally differs from the value reported by the camera),
- signal-to-noise ratio (SNR),
- dynamic range,
- tonal range,
- color depth and sensitivity,
- metamerism.
The site will be updated on a regular basis with new cameras.
