TutCast has produced a short video (less than 3 minutes) on the difference between Vibrance and Saturation commands in Photoshop CS4.
The video and audio are excellent. The streaming server was awful. It took nearly twenty minutes to stream the three minute video. I simply could not follow it as it streamed via a You Tube feed. I had to replay it.
I was also uncomfortable with the explanation of Vibrance. The discussion noted that Vibrance prevents skintones from becoming over-saturated. Well, it does do that, but it does a lot more and the video is completely silent about that. The really important point is that Vibrance prevents highly saturated colors from clipping. When highly saturated colors clip, you can get ugly color shifts AND you can lose detail. Vibrance helps you avoid that.
I would have no problem with giving this video a stronger recommendation, if it did not have such awful streaming and if the author took a couple extra minutes to explain more completely what Vibrance is all about. I have no doubt the author can produce a high quality and interesting video tutorial.
