An Online Community for Digital Photographers

Wanted: Alternate Voices for The Light's Right

There was one major reason for the redesign of The Light's Right site. I wanted to a community site. I spent a lot of time building the site in Drupal, adding forums, adding support for comments and ratings, etc.

I also wanted to give voice to others. A handful of Photoshop gurus have high visibility. We can learn a lot from them. But I also know from my experience in digital photography forums around the Web that there are many smart and experienced digital photographers out there.

The Photoshop/Lightroom publishing industry is very cliquish and incestuous. I say that, having found it very easy to break into publishing, lecturing at industry conferences, and the like with Microsoft .NET, Java, and OOP programming. There are a handfuul of people who are widely celebrated, but there are also lots and lots of voices on sites run by Microsoft, Sun, and others for programmers, database administrators, etc. In Photoshop/Lightroom publishing, there are a few dozen voices that are dominant.

I want to extend an offer to everyone who visits this site. If you think you have the talent to write interesting essays, reviews, tutorials, etc. then please e-mail me. I welcome one-time guest submissions, regular columns, etc.

Truth be told, I can use the help! I'm behind on my reviews, my videos, etc. If I had help from other authors writing blogs, posting links to interesting resources, composing tutorials, etc. then I could spend more time with comprehensive reviews of digital photography software, longer video tutorials, etc.
