The Luminous Landscape: Guide to Camera Raw
Disclaimer: I have written guest articles previously for Michael Reichmann's site, The Luminous Landscape.
Guide to Camera Raw: Raw Processing in Photoshop is more than seven hours of video instruction by Michael Reichmann and Jeff Schewe.
The Photographer's Eye
The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman is simply among the very best books on composition. Scratch that. It's my opinion, The Photographer's Eye is the very best book on composition.
This book had the same effect on me as John Shaw's books on nature and macro photography. I sat down with the book and wanted to absorb every word. The photographs are excellent examples that illustrate the points well. The technical prose is well-written.
Visual Poetry: Unmet Expectations
The title Visual Poetry grabbed my attention. The subtite, A Creative Guide for Making Engaging Digital Photographs was promising. Chris Orwig is one of my favorite Photoshop video instructors on Lynda.com. This was an obvious choice for me.
Unfortunately, the book did not deliver on that promise. It's didn't really even come close.
