Pierre has produced a new Lightroom 2 preset. He calls it PH Fade away. It desaturates photographs and then adds a bit of mocha touch. The shadows are leveled out to flow with the lightness and the black areas have increased contrast adjustments to bring depth to the photo. The result is a very nice effect.

This is an action set producing translucent photo mats. The set contains one action to prep your image and four others that each apply a different border-type mat to the photo. These effects are meant to give a pleasing border effect and also really set off the center of the photo.

Grunge, dirty, gritty, slimy, rusty, shattered, dripping, torn, worn . . . Photoshop Roadmap has compiled sixty grunge and distressed effects.

John Beardsworth is not a big fan of Lightroom presets. He says, he very rarely uses them. Well, when John does decide to make a set of presets, he produces a splendid set indeed. He's put together a set of presets for adding dramatic punch to weak skies and some added clarity to sunset/sunrise landscapes.

What a slick idea! Take some photos of clouds in your back yard. Then convert them into a Photoshop brush set so you and others can add realistic cloud effects to their photographs.

Jo Cole has added a set of free texture brushes to the Photoshop Daily site. As she says, you can obviously use these for a painted look, but they have other uses as well. With a little blur, for example, you could use them for a faux film grain effect. Sharpen them and add a crunchy texture. Etc.
